Working on DIY projects & blogging about what I am creating daily is a passion I can't describe.  It's what drives me daily.  I am an artist that thrives on bringing inspirational ideas to you daily, and with that means I need to be on top of my game!

As much as I love painting, crafting, building and doing all things DIY I get tired.  I need to refuel more than once during the day.  And, it's been super hot out so I go for a iced cold coffee from  SToK™ Cold-Brew Iced Coffee.  If you have been following along in my journey, you know how much I love coffee.

Many of my days start early & end late!  I start my days by gathering my paints, and my next furniture piece that I set out to breath new life into.. Sometimes this might mean I am working not only on one piece, but I could be working on multiple pieces at a time.

One of the many furniture makeovers that I need to do is this gigantic coffee table I picked up at an auction a few months ago.  It's not only big, but I think this guy weighs a ton, really!  The coffee table will be heading into my living room to create more functionality. I love the drawers which are located on both sides, along with the doors which also provide a ton ofstorage space. The storage runs all the way through on each side.  This will be a perfect spot to store puzzles and board games.

Our living room is a gathering spot since our kitchen, dining room & living room is one big open area.  Especially in the winter months we enjoy sitting around doing big puzzles and playing board games.  SO, I think it will be the perfect furniture piece for our family.  Our girls also love to play board games, card games & to color together while I am cooking or working on DIY projects. The ample amount of storage the coffee table provides along with a spot for them to play games on is exactly what is needed for this space.

Unfortunately it is not the color I wish to have in my living room.  That's an easy fix with a little paint! It also wasn't very well taken care of.  On the top there are multiple gashes, and around the edges on the bottom is roughed up a bit. This means it is necessary to grab that sander and get to work.  I started off by removing all of the hardware and stored them in a baggie.  I haven't decided if I will keep the original hardware or replace it.  Once the piece is fully finished I will make that decision.  Hardware is truly an easy accessory to change out, and can really jazz up a piece.

Before I started the sanding process I needed to prep my paint.  On this project I will be using Old Fashioned Milk Paint (OFMP).  OFMP comes in a powder form which means I will need to mix up a batch for the coffee table.

I love using Old Fashioned Milk Paint for many of my painted pieces.  Did you know that milk paint has been around since before the 13th century?  I love that I can mix up just enough to use on a piece & that I can also mix colors to create a custom color, I do this a lot.  It's also non-toxic & naturally safe.

On this coffee table I am going to be using one of my favorites by Old Fashioned Milk Paint Company, but you'll have to come back to see what color this is going to end up being.  Don't let the pictures fool ya...there will be more than one color!

Once I had the the coffee table scuffed up using my sander, I cleaned it off making sure to remove any sanding dust along with any other yuckiness. Prepping furniture pieces is critical in refinishing or painting pieces.  It is & can be time consuming, but in the end it saves you more time, headaches & heartbreaks.  I have watched unprepared pieces not hold up due to the paint peeling and more. Take the time to prep, you will be happy you did!

After I cleaned the coffee table thoroughly, making sure it was dry, I grabbed my milk paint to give it a couple of nice coats.  I always let my milk paint sit for about 10 - 15 minutes before I start using it.

Remember up there I said sometimes I have multiple projects going at the same time.  This was one of those days.

By now I needed a quick refuel as my morning coffee had worn off, and so I grabbed my yummy SToK™ Cold-Brew Iced Coffee I mentioned I love for refueling.

And, now I am ready to move onto my next project.  Once I had a recharge, I sanded this little table to prepare it for it's upcycle.

Since I needed to give the paint on the coffee table time to dry before moving onto the next step of completing it, I turned my focus onto this cute little side table.  This table also needed the same attention I gave to the coffee table above....sand/scuff, clean thoroughly, and start the painting process.  Lucky for me neither of these needed major work to bring them back to life.

Come back to visit to see the final reveal of the tables in a few won't want to miss either one..

As you all know I love my coffee... I don't go a day without having a cup or THREE... The one thing that I have been absolutely loving since it has been so hot & humid while I am working, is SToK™ Cold-Brew Iced Coffee, it is DELICIOUS, and it is all set for you to enjoy....along with energizing you or I'd never be able to move through the day working on multiple DIY projects.  It's my inspiration in a bottle, giving me fuel to the fire!

It is pure coffee with no weird ingredients and it gives you a bold & smooth flavor!  There are two amazing flavors to choose from, one that is un-sweet and one that is not too sweet. I love the not too sweet so I don't need to add any sugar...just a little milk and I am all set!

I pick up a couple of the SToK™ 48 oz Cold Brew Iced Coffee’s at my local Wal-Mart every time I shop there.

I love that I can enjoy a nice iced coffee anytime throughout the day without having to brew a full pot & wait for it to chill.  SToK™ is easily accessible being that I have TWO Wal-Mart stores within a few minutes of me on either direction.

I love that you can find SToK™ in the cold drink section in Wal-Mart.  That means if I need to make a trip to the hardware store (that is located in the same shopping plaza as Wal-Mart), I can just pop in grab some refuel & be on my way to complete my DIY projects!

SToK™ Cold-Brew Iced Coffee has also been giving me the umph on these hot days to power through to the next DIY project for me to bring to you!

What do you do to keep the energy flowing throughout the day? Are you a coffee lover as much as I am?

  1. Sounds like powerful stuff! Ideal if you want to stay alert when it's hot out. Unfortunately here in the UK we're a lot more limited in choice when it comes to iced coffee. I've come across individual portion sized packs before, but never a large bottle like that, which is a great shame!

    1. It's amazing stuff...I love it & maybe slightly addicted ;)

  2. I love milk paint. I've refinished a few furniture pieces, but I wish I had the time to do more of it. #client

  3. Oh, I love iced coffee. That doesn't look any that I'm familiar with, though - we don't have the same brands in Canada. Does it not have any milk or cream in it? All of the iced coffees I know are premixed, ready to drink. However, did you mean to say "gigantic coffee" or "gigantic coffee table"? I'm all for gigantic coffee! :D

  4. i fill my coffee carafe with grounds and water the night before and stick it in the fridge. perfect cold brew in the morning. perfect for this freaking hot summer!!
