Whew...another month..
and another fabulous makeover
involving another fabulous sponsor...
I love hardware.. of all sorts. I will sometimes work around a set of hardware because I just love it so much. D. Lawless Hardware has some of the most beautiful hardware....and one of my favorites to add a little detail is from their applique' section.
I've been fortunate to have used many knobs/pulls and appliques from D. Lawless like these -
I used appliques from D. Lawless Hardware on the front of the door and on the top back to create a little detail to what once was a plain cabinet.

For this month I took an ugly old beat up chest I picked up from an old estate. It had great bones and was solid...
You can see what the first order of business would need to be...
But, look at the inside... perfect condition!
All I did was wipe it out and clean it up a bit..
But, the poor girl was ratted and rough around the edges. I knew I could make her look pretty again!
I striped her clean, I sanded her (not shown in pictures) to remove all of the glue residue. By the way, sanding that glue was not an easy job!!
I knew she'd need just a little bling to make her sparkle just a little, she deserved it from the life she had given of herself!
I attached the applique' I had gotten from D. Lawless, gave her a good coat of primer....
And, I painted it a couple of coats of a custom mix blue.. I wanted the blue to be close to the lighter shade in the cushion.
I had removed the the top and added a cushioned top. This fabric was a table cloth I found on clearance at Home Goods. And, I just thought the design went well with the applique'!!
And, then she was pretty again. With her added large applique' to bring some beautiful detail attention her way, and the gold pulls just puts the icing on the cake.
I think she turned out just stunning! I love that with something as simple as a little paint, beautiful hardware and the ease of adding an applique' turned this from an eye sore to a sweet & loving bench!
I can't even begin to tell you how grateful we are to have D. Lawless as our sponsor for our August Fab Flippin Contest!!
D. Lawless is a family owned and operated company with a ton of hardware choices. They also offer a wonderful variety of different furniture necessities at insanely low prices.
Their service always goes above and beyond! It's always a pleasure to speak with them on my next project (they get as excited about it as I do).
