I picked up this dining room table along with a side buffet and hutch a couple of years ago. I had redone the buffet & hutch and they sold. The table had sat because well let me be honest here...I don't have a passion for doing the chairs.
I loved the legs... Big chunky legs were calling for a nice distressed look.
Even though now I've redone 2 full dining table sets in less than 6 months... Ha go figure!! You can read about the other one HERE!
When I moved into my larger space at Newburgh Vintage Emporium (NVE) I knew I was ready to do a table with chairs. I had some fabric that I purchased long before I had my space at NVE knowing I wanted to do chairs in, but the set sat for a while...
Collecting dust....
I started out by cleaning the entire set. The chair cushions were filthy gross. This set must have sat unattended for quite some time. See those cushions on those chairs... not a pretty sight at all.
The topcoat on the table & chairs had started flaking off.
Once I cleaned it completely, I used a sanding block and roughed it up.
The table got a nice coat of antique white as did the chairs.
The table top was stained in Java Gel stain by General Finishes...
The chair cushions were reupholstered in this beautiful fabric...one of my favorites!
This set came together so nicely...
It didn't sit long in my space before it went on to a new home....
Much love, peace & happiness ~
I can see why it didn't stay in the booth long. Beautiful!! LUV the chunky legs on the table and chairs.
